By way of explanation for Typhoon Pools' closure, Media & Gaming Pty Ltd established Typhoon Pools in March 2009 in order to achieve two goals: firstly, to showcase its innovative wagering and gaming technology, and secondly, to demonstrate that it was possible to operate a lower take-out internet-based totalisator service within Australia.

We achieved the first goal unequivocally with the New Zealand Racing Board licensing Typhoon our wagering software, and we believe we have also proven the second goal, but feel that it will take more time than the company initially allocated to truly establish the product in the market. For this reason we have opted to concentrate on the wagering and gaming technology aspect of our business, acknowledging that Typhoon Pools has played a key role in enabling us to do this.
